I know that most of the people reading this blog already know about this, but I wanted to let you know to pray for those effected by the wildfires in San Diego.
I've been scared and preoccupied all day, worrying about my family and our house. As the day winds down, my family, with the Cunninghams and Johnstons, are making their way up to Palm Springs. I'm relieved that they're at least physically safe, but our house could still be in danger.
There are/were fires in RB, so I'm worried for the McCabes' house. I'm rambling a bit.
Anyway, the fires are showing few signs of stopping within the next couple days, so please keep everyone in SD in your prayers!
And to all my friends in California who are being effected by the wildfires:
Know that you are all in my constant thoughts and prayers. I'm asking all my friends here to pray. Let me know how you are once you're safe!
God bless you,
-Rebekah

Hey Rebekah! Thanks for the prayers. My family returned home yesterday, but there is still a ton of smoke and ash in the air.
Here in Mira Mesa, we're trying to keep all the students calm. (I have been making an attempt personally to keep the students in my apartment from panicking.) We are keeping all the windows shut and the A/C on, otherwise it gets too hot in here. The pool is black with ash and whenever I go outside, I can barely breath. Yesterday, several of us went to St. Jude's (one of the common rooms here)and prayed the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, then we all ate pancakes and watched movies all day. Today, I am doing homework.
Thank-you again for all the prayers and I think Poway is mostly out of danger. We're all hanging in there!
New update! My family just evacuated again.
We're all back home and safe. They held the fire at Espola Road, so central Poway was safe. Northeast Poway and RB were hit hard, but most of our friends seem to have escaped damage. The Johnston's are not yet able to return to their home but it has been confirmed that their street was not touched by the fire. The east county is still getting hit -- Julian as been evacuated. You can keep prayers going up for the safety of the firefighters.
Love from us all,
Dad.
Rebekah,
We got home Thursday afternoon. The McCabe's house is ok. Much of their part of our neighborhood, as well as many houses north of RB Rd. on the east side of 15 burned, too.
Did you hear that Crystal's house burned? She and her family are ok. Several Juaregui families lost their homes, too.
We are busy making bread, brownies, and cookies for the homeless and firefighters. We know several people who lost homes. I expect the McCabes do, too.
Thanks for the prayers. There are still almost 7,000 firefighters fighting fires here. They hope for containment by the 31st.
