Tridentine Mass

I thought Scott would post about this before I did, but he's too busy pretending to quit blogging, or something, to get around to it, so I win!

As he mentioned and I didn't, the first Tridentine Mass at Franciscan University took place this past Sunday, March 30, at 4:00pm. It was really amazing, especially considering the opposition there was to the idea last semester.

Christ the King Chapel was converted into a more traditional set-up. The Altar was moved back and decorated with long candles, and a long row of kneelers composed a make-shift altar rail.

The Mass lasted almost two whole hours. The Schola choir sang, increasing the sacred atmosphere of the Latin and the high altar.

Overall, I think the Dom Guéranger Society has a lot to be proud of. I will be sure to attend the next Tridentine Mass next month!

God bless,
-Rebekah

I mentioned it in my Divine Mercy Sunday post at Three Anachronisms, so you only come in second place. I've really been unable to get any of my thoughts or any recent happenings into bloggifiable form though. Hey, at least I still comment on my friends'!

Rebekah,

So, what is the attraction of the Tridentine rite? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? Do you prefer it to the Novus Ordo Mass?

Was the Mass well attended? Did (m)any faculty come?

Who offered the Mass (which priest?)

Will it be offered regularly now (at least this semester)?
